On a normal day over 200,000 kids across our city get nutritious breakfasts and snacks through their school-based Student Nutrition Programs; but these are not normal times. Schools are closed and children are still hungry. To help fill this gap, we have been working with our partners to find a way to get food out to kids who need it, in the safest and fastest way possible. Working closely with the school boards and volunteers from KPMG, a process has been developed, and is now in place, to get food cards out to the families of children in need.

Phase 1, where we we mailed out close to 90,000 grocery cards (each child received a $50 food card, which is the cost of breakfast for 30 days), is now complete.  We are currently working to launch Phase 2 to get additional support out to children in need during the summer months.

Many wonderful partners have come together to help cover the cost of the food cards, but the need is great. If you would like to help us nourish children during this time of crisis, please donate here by selecting the “COVID-19 Response Fund” in the drop down box below. On behalf of the children we serve, we thank you.
