New School Food Hub will help get more nourishing food to more kids across Toronto

TORONTO, ON — September 24, 2026 — The Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) celebrated the opening of Toronto’s first dedicated School Food Hub today, an important step toward getting more nourishing food to more children and youth across the city.

The new Hub will help expand Bridging the Nutrition Gap, TFSS’s program that purchases healthy food in bulk, stretching every dollar further to get more food to children and youth accessing Student Nutrition Programs across Toronto. With the Hub, more food can be purchased, stored and distributed to even more students.

Last school year, Bridging the Nutrition Gap reached 108,000+ students across 292 school communities. This year, TFSS’s goal, with the help of donors and partners, is to reach students at 400 schools.

Mayor Olivia Chow joined TFSS CEO Catherine Parsonage and TFSS leadership for a ribbon cutting and tour of the new Hub.

“At the heart of this School Food Hub is a simple goal: more healthy food reaching more kids. When a child has a nourishing meal at school, they’re better able to learn, grow and make the most of their day. This Hub gives us the capacity to do more of that, for more children, for years to come.”— Catherine Parsonage, CEO, Toronto Foundation for Student Success

“Today’s opening of Toronto’s first School Food Hub is a milestone in saving families money on groceries. At a time of economic uncertainty, the Hub helps create 250 good local jobs and supports our local business. Congratulations to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success on this achievement.” — Mayor Olivia Chow, City of Toronto

The School Food Hub builds on TFSS’s ongoing work to help nourish Toronto children and youth. By providing hands-on support for Student Nutrition Programs and supplemental food, TFSS helps ensure kids have access to the food they need to learn and thrive.
