In the morning, Amir is in math class working through fractions when his energy dips. Just in time, the morning meal bin arrives. Today it’s yogurt (his favourite), a clementine, and a muffin. After a quick break, he’s recharged, finishing his work and even helping a friend.

When the last bell rings, Amir heads down the hallway to the beyond 3:30 after-school program room, where he’s greeted by familiar faces happy to see him. He drops his backpack, grabs a healthy snack, and settles in with friends to tackle homework, getting help from staff and friends when he needs it (and sometimes turning it into a bit of a friendly challenge).

On some days, he’s a Junior Chef: apron on, learning how to prepare a nutritious meal alongside his friends. Other days, he’s outside playing, practicing his swing for an upcoming baseball tournament and getting that energy out after a long school day.

Later, he might be back inside trying a hands-on STEM activity, experimenting, figuring things out, and learning together. Then everyone sits down to enjoy dinner, sometimes made by Amir himself.

By the end of the day, he’s heading home with a full belly, a boost of confidence, and ready to come back tomorrow.

And on May 25th?

He might just be one of the kids on the Beyond’s Got Talent stage!
