Hadden Family Foundation Announces Major Funding to After-School and Nutrition Programs.
TORONTO, 23 November 2016 – Thanks to a former Toronto student and his family, thousands of at-risk students are learning to cook, finishing their homework and getting fit at beyond 3:30 after-school programs and being nourished through their Feeding Hungry Minds student nutrition program.
On November 25, global financier and President of the Hadden Family Foundation, Glenn Hadden, will visit Military Trail Public School to present a cheque for $150,000 to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS), the independent charitable foundation of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
The funds are being directed to support the beyond 3:30 after-school and Feeding Hungry Minds programs. The beyond 3:30 program gives students between the ages of 11 and 14 a safe and welcoming place for sports activities, physical fitness, a nutritious meal, and homework support each school day during the time that they are most vulnerable – 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Hadden Family Foundation recently added 11 more schools to the Feeding Hungry Minds program, bringing their program reach to 73 schools in disadvantaged communities across Toronto. Their support continues to provide opportunities that are out of reach for most families facing poverty issues.
Glenn Hadden is a Partner at Alphadyne Asset Management in New York. Formerly a partner at Goldman Sachs and a senior executive at Morgan Stanley, he is one of the most recognizable names on Wall Street. Through the Hadden Family Foundation, the Toronto native is one of the leading advocates for youth education and development issues in Canada’s urban at-risk communities. The $150,000 donation will be in addition to the over $1,150,000 Hadden’s Foundation has made to Toronto student nutrition programs.
