Scarborough students are learning to cook, finishing their homework and getting fit at beyond 3:00 after-school programs, thanks to a former Toronto student and his family. On November 22, global financier and President of The Hadden Family Foundation Glenn Hadden visited Tecumseh Senior Public School to present a cheque of $150,000 to the Toronto Foundation of Student Success (TFSS), the independent charitable foundation of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). The funds are being directed to support beyond 3:30, an after-school program that gives students between the ages of 11 and 14 a safe and welcoming place for sports and physical fitness, a nutritious meal, and homework support each school day — opportunities that are out of reach for most families facing poverty issues — as well as six Student Nutrition Programs in Scarborough.
Glenn Hadden is Head of Global Interest Rates Products at Morgan Stanley in New York. Through the The Hadden Family Foundation, the Toronto native is one of the leading advocates for youth education and development issues in Canada's urban at-risk communities. The $150,000 donation is in addition to the over $600,000 Hadden’s Foundation has made to Toronto Student Nutrition Programs.
